When I was pumping in anticipation of going back to work I used to freeze in 90ml lots (which is usually about what he took) and several smaller amounts so that if more milk was needed then we weren't wasting it, or as much as we might have. So if he had 90ml for example, and still appeared hungry we might offer another 10-20ml, it meant that we weren't wasting 80ml of milk that I worked damn hard to get if he only wanted an extra 10ml. Some bf babies will appear to still be hungry after a bottle of expressed milk, and this is usually due to their sucking needs not being met rather than them still being hungry; so if a bf takes 20 minutes for example, that's how long the bottle-feed needs to take. I was expressing at midday as that was when I was going to expect to be expressing at work and either first thing in the morning or last thing at night depending on my mood and how tired I was. :lol: Some days/nights were easier than others and it did take a while before I could pump more than 20ml per session.
